Brisbane blogger spreads school smut
SHE'S bitchy, biting, sarcastic and spiteful and she has taken cyber bullying to new heights with a website that is terrorising students at Brisbane's elite private schools. She is Gossip Girl Brisbane and her MySpace blog, created this month, already has attracted 470 users keen to use the site to denounce their peers with salacious details about their sexual orientation, drug problems, love lives and health woes. Forget scribbling gossip on the back of the toilet door at school, it's now out there for millions of web users to view. Gossip Girl does not name the girls she says are pregnant or the teens she says have had sex. She uses initials to indicate the person she is talking about. The blog, which is updated daily, mirrors the Fox 8 program Gossip Girl, in which the identity of Gossip Girl remains a secret and everyone relies on her website for the latest scoop.
Teens, tweens find new friend
FORT COLLINS — Lauren Myracle is 38 going on 15, and fluent in the instant-message lingua franca of the tweens and teens who've made her the literary equivalent of a rock star. Her novel "ttyl" — e-shorthand for "talk to you later" — was written in the form of instant messages, composed at the Fort Collins Starbucks that's become Myracle's de facto office. Along with companion volumes "ttfn" ("ta-ta for now") and "L8r, g8r" ("Later, gator"), that book launched a white-hot career arc that's still curving up, trailing Myracle, who seems a little stunned, like a child with a runaway kite. "It's so silly!" she says happily. Wide-eyed, with sassy short hair, Myracle punctuates her sentences with exclamation points in print and aloud, waving pink-glitter fingernails for extra emphasis.

A walk down the Yellow Brick Road of Malaysia's Corridor of the future
We are now three days away from the big day for Malaysia's General Election. I've been watching the electronic press and the blogs this last week to see how much of an influence the "E" factor is going to play in this election as far as disseminating of information, spreading gossip, mobilizing people and, of course, campaigning for votes goes. I've also attended a couple of ceramahs just to see how quickly the news/info gets disseminated onto YouTube, and how much of a part YouTube is playing in terms of getting information or messages across. Dear Prime Minister... One big "E" splash that was made during campaigning last week was the launch of the Prime Minister's feedback Web site called warkahuntukpm.com.my, which was launched March 1 with much press and publicity. The concept behind warkahuntukpm.com.my is this: Write to the PM and tell him your issues, and he'll look into the matter.
