Company Builds $1 Billion Juice Business

From that introduction, Morton and his business partners capitalized on a new brand category of liquid "super-fruits" that is "doing gangbusters," said Jeff Hilton, a partner at Integrated Marketing Group, a branding and packaging consultant.

XanGo has more than two dozen competitors that sell fruit juices, powdered drinks and vitamin fizz tablets. Tahitian Noni International Inc. sold $2 billion worth of noni juice, from the French Polynesia fruit, in its first 10 years by 2006. MonaVie, also of Utah, bottles a blend of acai juice from the Amazon basin berry. Pure Fruit Technologies Inc. underprices XanGo on a mangosteen-based juice that sells in health food stores.

XanGo, a private company that doesn't reveal financial statements, said at the October convention that since its launch five years ago, sales of the mangosteen-based juice topped a cumulative $1 billion.

When Did Cam’ron Become The “Voice of Hip-Hop?”

Ben Chavis (Who should change from Dr. to Rev. with his preaching), Kevin Liles (Who cares about your rise from intern to President? Thats not the issue) and Common (Even he had his misses). Now, 60 Minutes did a profile on the Stop Snitching epidemic which has been custom in inner-city neighborhoods for decades, but has exploded in recent years with its commercialization thru song and clothing. Who did 60 Minutes look for to talk about Stop Snitching? None other than the Albert Einstein of Hip-Hop, Camron. Whatever happened to publicists? I guess Jim Jones is preparing Killa for interviews. If you thought theres a witch hunt against Hip-Hop, your probably right? But in defense of the so-called art and poets like Russ would say are a bunch of fools. The worst legal defense team you can have.

6 Nations: France takes on World Cup nemesis England on pivotal ...

Ashton wants his players to bounce back from the poor second half that allowed Italy to rally from 20-6 down to 23-19 in Rome, hoping that Wigglesworth can help prompt a faster match. Richard will bring us variety and energy, Ashton said. He's a good allround footballer and is a bright guy. I think he'll bring the right players into the game at the right time. Nick Mallett made four changes to his starting lineup as Italy seeks to build upon its strong showing against England. Andrea Marcato will start at fullback in place of injured David Bortolussi, and Alberto Sgarbi will be on the right wing, with both starting for the first time.
Simon Picone at scrumhalf and Salvatore Perugini at loosehead prop were the only other changes for Italy. Former captain Marco Bortolami, who missed the first two games of the tournament because of an eye injury, will be in the reserves.

Discipline Harbhajan: Australians

Cricket Australia was quick to reprimand Matthew Hayden when he called Harbhajan "a little obnoxious weed" in a radio interview, and believes the Indian spinner has not been held to the same standards.

Cricket Australia had refrained from publicly expressing its frustrations about Harbhajan but held private discussions with the Indian board and received assurances its problem child would be counselled about the difference between provocative remarks and personal abuse. India twice threatened to take its bat and ball and go home if Harbhajan was not cleared of racially abusing Andrew Symonds, a decision that would have cost Cricket Australia millions of dollars.

With the tour finished when the spinner delivered his latest insults after India's triumphant homecoming, Sutherland took a more direct approach.

How to Build A Near Fail-Safe Accounting System to Reduce Costs and ...

The Holy Grail of accounting systems is one that "just works," every time and without fail, with great efficiency and small hardware requirements. The system must have significant reliability, and procedures and processes should cross validate on a constant, ongoing basis. This is our quest and can be our accomplishment.

Constructing a near fail-safe accounting system is like putting together a jigsaw puzzle; all pieces must be present and carefully placed in order to create the big picture. With accounting systems, one has to take all of the following pieces into consideration: software capabilities, hardware capabilities, training and internal procedures, support and strategic planning; AND these components must all fit and work together to create an efficient, reliable program that will take your firm's productivity to the next level.

Don't panic, the kids are all right

Let's make no mistake, there is always a moral in a Wilson story: bad behaviour happens but never triumphs. Her books are valuable in another way, too, as a teacher from an inner-city primary told me: for her children, Wilson's stories reflect their lives and offer reassurance.

So as far as I'm concerned Wilson comes close to sainthood, being largely responsible for firing my daughter's love of reading (and as she is now on to Birdsong, I don't think Wilson did her literacy much harm, either). But on the debate she has ignited this week about children growing up too fast and childhood these days ending at 11, I'm afraid we disagree.

It is easy to panic about adolescents. We see them in hoodies, hanging around and looking menacing. We see pictures of them in the gutter after binge drinking.

With Signals Mixed, Stocks Score Few Gains

Bulls, however, took comfort in stocks' ability to hold above their January lows, which suggests that much of the unfolding economic torpor may be reflected in share prices. Late Friday reports suggesting a pending bailout of bond insurer Ambac Financial (ticker: ABK) helped stocks recoup the day's losses quickly and dramatically.

Companies also paint a mixed picture. Brisk computer sales brightened Hewlett-Packard's (ticker: HPQ) outlook, but the increasingly dull Sharper Image (SHRP) filed for bankruptcy. Barron's warned readers against shares of the gadget merchant -- and its Ionic Breeze air purifiers -- nearly two years ago ("Gone with the Wind," May 2, 2005), when the stock fetched 13-14.

The Dow Jones Industrial Average ended the week up 33, or 0.3%, to 12381. The Standard & Poor's 500 edged up 3, or 0.2%, to 1353.

We cannot escape it, for deep down we are still animals. We will always be haunted. We will always know fear. That is why Halloween "spooks" us.

This particular night frightened our ancestors, and it will continue to frighten their descendants. As soon as the sun sets and All Hallow's Eve is upon us, witches, ghosts, and goblins awaken from their long sleep.

On this night there is no escaping it. We are afraid.

Truckee ready to rumble

Mark Hodges, head coach of the Vaqueros, reciprocated Shaffers respect for his opponent.

Especially when youre playing a program of Truckees tradition and history, its always a big game, Hodges said. Were pleased to be playing Truckee. We wouldnt want to be playing anybody else. If you want to be the best, youve got to play the best. And you usually have to go through Truckee.

Knowing this, Hodges made the one-hour drive to Surprise Stadium last weekend to scout the Truckee-Sparks contest. He said people have been asking for his assessment ever since the Wolverines secured the No. 1 seed with a 35-27 win.

I think the best team won, the coach said. Theres no doubt about it. Truckee was the best team in every aspect. And I think Sparks is a good team, too.
